Who are we to argue?
God says:
We are more than conquerors.
When I read Romans 8:37, I got stuck.
What does that even mean….
… we’re MORE than conquerors?
When we conquer something, isn’t that it…. finished, kaput, finito? The work has been completed because we conquered whatever this ‘thing’ is.
So, as I often do, I jumped down the rabbit hole of study. When I came back up, this is what I had discovered ….
The difference is the beginning and the end.
As entrepreneurs, when we work in our own power, might and strength, we struggle, fight and sweat to conquer the ‘thing.’ The result comes at the END of the work.
HOWEVER…..when we are MORE THAN conquerors, we walk INTO every situation with the knowledge that we are not alone. Our heavenly Father (Abba Father = daddy God) walks right there with us, has our back and is fighting with us. In fact, he’s gone BEFORE us and made the way. When we work from this mindset as ‘more than conquerors,’ the battle has been won from the beginning.
Hopefully no one is like me and tries to make things more complicated than it has to be but just in case you are…..
Who are you and I to argue with a scripture which grants us the ability…the gift… to be ‘more than conquerors?’ To walk into each situation already victorious…..
The Passion Translation puts it like this:
Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! (Romans 8:37)
On the practical side of all this, what does this really mean and how do we as entrepreneurs put it into practice?
Here’s what I know in my heart of hearts that I need to do. Maybe this will help you too, friend.
- As I move into each new project (or for that matter, each new day), I will pray to remember the fact that God has gone before me and to only take the next step He tells me to take.
- Set my mindset straight so I truly believe whether in success or failure, there is nothing that can separate me from the love of my Abba Father.
- Keep in the forefront of my mind the talents and strengths He has placed in me and filter my behaviors, actions and words through that lens.
My prayer for you:
Abba Father, thank you for my friend who is reading this email. Thank you for their talents and the plans you have for them. Help them clearly hear your voice surrounding their next steps, have the utmost clarity about the strengths and talents you’ve placed in them and give them the boldness to step out and take the next step you have for them. I pray that their entrepreneurial hearts are filled with joy and that as they move through their day, they see signs of you everywhere they look. I pray your guidance for them is easy and light and that today, they get a smile on their face because they see where your steps are in front of them and your hand has already been at work. I pray all of this in Jesus Name, Amen
Humbly Yours,
Jennifer Edwards
More Than a Conquerer
